Save the date! We are delighted to announce that on June 27 Record Union is hosting We’re Indies Together, a free one-day fundraising festival on the www. Our goal with the festival is to support independent artists who are facing lost income due to canceled gigs and shows as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. Each act will receive a ground fee and we will open up to receive and match donations. Let’s put the ‘fun’ back into ‘fundraising’!
We know that more often than not, an independent musician’s financial success comes from revenue outside of streaming or downloads, from live gigs and touring. Therefore, the restrictions and canceled gigs due to the pandemic have a massive impact on artists’ income all over the world.
We also know that festivals bring people together, allow artists to share new music with their fans, and bring enormous value to the independent corner of the music industry. So that’s why we have dreamt up We’re Indies Together – because, you know… we’re in this together!
The festival will showcase 15 performances by Record Union artists from all over the world who have had canceled gigs due to the pandemic, plus a super-secret premiere of a super-secret duo. The artists will perform from their bedroom, their studio, or even their bathtub if it’s foamy enough.
Each act will get paid a ground fee of $200 and in addition, Record Union will open up for receiving and matching donations for the artists. The donations will be split evenly between the performing artists.
We are committed to promoting an inclusive selection that embraces geographical, cultural, gender, and genre diversity.
We’re Indies Together will be held on Saturday, June 27 and will start at 10 a.m. PDT / 1 p.m. EST / 5 p.m. GMT / 7 p.m. CET.
Out of 150 applications, the festival committee has selected 15 Record Union acts who will perform on June 27.
